Personality Number — The Outer Shell Your Child Wears

If Soul Urge is the "hidden heart", then Personality is the "outer shell" the child wears whenever interacting with the world. It's the first impression others have — before they understand the child more deeply. And this shell is woven from the consonants of the name.

Calculation: consonants only

After removing A, E, I, O, U, the remaining letters (B, C, D, F, G, H, J, K, L, M, N, P, Q, R, S, T, V, W, X, Y, Z) are consonants — sum their Pythagorean values to get the Personality Number.

Example "Nguyễn Minh Khôi" → NGUYEN MINH KHOI:

  • Consonants: N, G, Y, N, M, N, H, K, H
  • Values: 5+7+7+5+4+5+8+2+8 = 51 → 5+1 = 6

→ The child has Personality 6 — gives a warm, trustworthy impression; people feel "safe" near them.

Meaning of the Personality Number

NumberOuter shell others perceive
1Confident, independent, slightly "cool", with distance
2Gentle, approachable, friendly, sometimes too yielding
3Joyful, smiley, eloquent, a "magnet"
4Trustworthy, serious, neat, principled
5Dynamic, never still, intriguing, "hard to pin down"
6Warm, "parental" vibe, people want to confide
7Calm, mysterious, "deep", a depth in the eyes
8Powerful, well-dressed, has leadership "aura"
9Noble, has an "aura" distance, people respect them

Hard vs soft consonants

In Vietnamese, after diacritic stripping, we can classify:

"Hard" consonants (strong, structured personality):

  • B (=2), C (=3), D (=4), G (=7), K (=2), M (=4), N (=5), P (=7), Q (=8), T (=2), X (=6), Z (=8)

"Soft" consonants (gentle, flowing personality):

  • F (=6), H (=8), J (=1), L (=3), R (=9), S (=1), V (=4), W (=5), Y (=7)

Mothers naming girls often prefer soft consonants: Linh, Lan, Hà, Sương, Hồng, Yến — mostly L, H, S. Boys' names usually have hard consonants: Khang, Dũng, Cường, Tuấn, Quang — with K, D, C, T, Q.

This is cultural intuition — no rigid formula, but accurately reflects numerology principles.

When Personality conflicts with Soul Urge

This is the interesting situation — the shell and the heart differ:

  • Personality 8 + Soul Urge 2: Outwardly has CEO aura, but inside yearns for peace. Their life will always be tense between "must be strong" and "want to be loved".
  • Personality 7 + Soul Urge 5: Looks calm like a researcher, but heart wants adventure. The child may become a scientific explorer — a beautiful combination.
  • Personality 4 + Soul Urge 9: Outwardly disciplined, inwardly humanitarian. The child may become a civil servant devoted to community — doctor, highland teacher.

MiKiName does not prioritize any conflict type over others — because each parent has different goals. Some want a "consistent" child (Personality = Soul Urge), others want a "complex" child (intentional conflict).

Tips for choosing consonants by intention

Want a confident, leadership impression (P 1 or 8):

  • Name with A at the start boosts confidence (A=1).
  • Name ending in hard consonant (K, T, G, N) creates a "decisive ending".
  • Examples: Khang, Tuấn, Anh Quân.

Want a warm, lovable child (P 2 or 6):

  • Soft consonants dominate: L, M, H, N.
  • Examples: Linh, Mai, Hà, Hoa, Hằng, Mỹ.

Want a deep, mysterious child (P 7):

  • Consonants creating "drawn-out" sound: NH, NG, KH.
  • Examples: Nhi, Nhung, Khanh, Khôi.

Cultural difference: Vietnamese vs Western

In Western culture, people especially attend to the first letter (Cornerstone) and last letter (Capstone) of the name — those are the first/last sounds heard. In Vietnam, because names follow Surname + Middle + Given structure, the first letter of the GIVEN NAME (not the surname) is most important for the Cornerstone.

MiKiName will wire up Cornerstone/Capstone in the upcoming Sprint 1 (see NUMEROLOGY-IMPROVEMENTS.md).

Can you "change" the Personality Number?

Yes. Parents change it by choosing the name. Adults change it by using a nickname. In Vietnamese culture, having a home name ("Bin", "Bống", "Sữa") different from the birth certificate name is common — and each name creates a different Personality, affecting how those using it perceive the bearer.
